Hey, there you are!

Are you knocking around the internet again, comparing your brand to everyone else and feeling less legit in the process?

You’re a smart, capable woman who’s proud of the business you’ve built, but your current brand no longer feels like you.

Or maybe it never did.

Either way, you find yourself endlessly browsing other websites, lacking confidence, and wishing you had a look to match those other brands you envy most.

What really matters is that you have dreams of taking your business farther than you ever imagined and want a brand that truly represents you and where you’re headed next.

I feel your frustration. You may be surprised to know that even though I’m a brand designer, I’ve been there, too.

I know that icky feeling when your brand doesn’t speak to you, much less to the people you want to work with. It leaves you second-guessing and insecure. And when you’re insecure, you hold back because you want to hide and play it safe.

But here’s the thing: you have no reason to hide. Exactly the opposite! You’re talented and capable, and you’ve built an amazing business. More importantly, you have gifts the world needs!

It’s time to stop comparing yourself to everyone else and start looking at YOU and the unique strengths you bring to the table that naturally set you apart. Because THAT is the secret behind the brands you admire most. You love them because they fully embrace who they are.

And when you own who YOU are, your confidence will soar and your business will break gravity’s hold and fly higher than you ever imagined.

Isn’t it time you Let Her Fly?

How I Broke Gravity’s Hold on My Own Business

Believe it or not, I know exactly how you feel—and I have a sure-fire solution.

When I first started my business I had a tiny vision for it—I wanted to do work I love and make a decent income for my family. So, as a designer, I created a beautiful logo and a brand identity that represented my vision for my business at that time.

Two years later, my business pivoted into something more than I ever thought possible. I outgrew my brand. Not only did it no longer reflect me or what my business had become through the late nights and hard work of the previous years, it didn’t connect with the women I most wanted to work with or capture my vision of where I wanted to go next.

At first, I agonized and wrestled. Inwardly cringing at the idea of rebranding my business (I know how much work that is!), I attempted to cobble together a solution with a name that no longer fit and a brand identity I no longer loved, trying to make it work anyway.

Everything changed when I realized it actually wasn’t the look of my brand that was holding me back, but HOW I FELT ABOUT IT. My dreams for my business had grown, but because I didn’t feel confident that my brand image matched my new direction, I kept playing small.

Tired of holding back, I gave myself permission to let go of my old brand and launched Let Her Fly. And finally, my brand now matches my vision for the business I’m creating.

Now I’m confident and proud:

  • to tell people who I am;

  • to hand them my business card;

  • to send them to my website.

It has changed everything, and it can do the same for you!

With a design degree and 30 years in the industry, my experience ranges from in-house art departments to non-profits to two of Calgary’s largest advertising agencies. Through Let Her Fly, I now bring that same level of expertise and eye for detail to entrepreneurs and small businesses.

It’s for women like you that I get up in the morning (well, you and deadlines — I eat those for breakfast).

You’re the driving force behind Let Her Fly because you have something to give that the world needs, and I believe you should be able to look your best doing it. Having a small budget doesn’t mean you should settle for mediocrity or anything less than a brand that captures your personality AND your expertise.

Because when your brand finally showcases you as the expert you are, you’re suddenly able to soar, leaving all the comparison and insecurity 30,000 feet below. Instead of holding back, you’ll finally feel empowered to step up, do big things, and take your business higher than you ever imagined.

On a Personal Note

In 1995, I traded Southern sweet tea and lightning bugs for true love in the Great White North. I speak fluent American and Canadian, accurately using “toboggan” in either context. (One will careen you down a snowy hill; the other will keep your noggin warm!) Home is in Calgary with my husband, two teen daughters, a hairy rescue pup, and a bottomless London Fog.

Workshops & Speaking

I also teach eye-opening workshops on branding and design. If you’re interested in inviting me to speak to your group, you can download my speaker sheet here or send me an email at michelle@weletherfly.com. I love teaching other women how to build a stand-out brand!

Letting Her Fly – in Ethiopia

Let Her Fly supports Ellilta International, an organization helping Ethiopian women break the generational cycle of poverty and prostitution by providing a place where they find healing and receive vocational training.

Every $350 donation allows one woman to start her very own business, support her family, and earn a living with dignity and hope. I've had the privilege of meeting some of these women whose lives, families, and communities are changed forever.

For every new branding client at Let Her Fly, we make another donation so one more Ethiopian woman can create a business she’s proud of.

Thank you for helping HER fly!

It’s time to Let Her Fly!

With a brand that makes you look and feel like the pro you are, you’ll stop second-guessing yourself and gain the confidence to reach your next level.

That’s exactly what my clients do. They’re happy-dancing, high-fiving, and crying tears of joy over their new brands. But don’t take my word for it. Here’s what they say about working with me:

Tears of joy

When Michelle presented the first brand strategy, I cried tears of joy! I felt like she deeply understood the vision and purpose of my company and captured it into just the right colors, images, and words.

She always explains her design decisions when I'm unsure and helps me see the big picture. Having a professional brand has positioned our company as a leader in our industry so we can make an even greater impact in education—my ultimate goal.

She’s super easy to work with, always responsive, and professional. Thanks for everything, Michelle! I really love working with you and am grateful for our ongoing partnership!

Thalia Kingsford client testimonial

This is who we are!

I approached Michelle because our website was ten years old, with outdated team members and an uninspiring message. Because our #1 priority is serving our clients, updating our site always fell to the bottom of our to-do list, and we were sure that's where it would stay if we didn't bring in outside help.

As we began receiving even more recognition in our industry, it was time for our brand to reflect the same level of expertise that our clients have come to expect. As a specialist, we needed Michelle and her team to take this project off our plate and drive it to completion.

In spite of our busy schedule, her direction enabled us to make time for each step of the process. She was understanding, flexible, and committed to keeping us on-track and moving forward. Her team also helped us clearly define our values, strategy, and messaging.

Now, our brand and website communicate our mission and strengths, as well as our energy and personality. We're proud to have a site that represents our team in a meaningful way, one that tells everyone, "This is who we are!"

Rebecca Johnson client testimonial

The signs of a real pro

Having worked for 10 years in a creative agency, when I discovered Michelle's work I immediately spotted the signs of a real pro. She understands how color tells a story and every detail communicates in the blink of an eye.

Her process was seamless and organized, allowing us to focus on creative solutions. All her design elements work beautifully in standard communication channels and our private online community. Even better, it’s consistent and easy for me to use.

Many designers can create logos that look great but miss the all-important message behind the brand. Michelle's step-by-step approach reflects her expertise and years of experience producing the whole package. She’s a top-notch creative partner!
