Brand Design for Botanical Numerology

I'm a big believer in the benefits of self-awareness—what makes us tick, what we're good at and what we're not, what drives us—both for our own understanding and to help us better relate to those around us, personally and professionally.

Some of my favorite tools for this are StrengthsFinder, Enneagram, and 16 Personalities. It wasn't until I met Ginger Lily through my Mastermind group that I learned there was another tool for personal insight that's fun and engaging and doesn't require me to figure it out all on my own.

Botanical Numerology is a way of understanding the numbers of your name and birthdate as well as their botanical expressions. Through her expertise in both fields, Ginger has helped me (and many others!) make more confident decisions and move forward with a lot less second-guessing. She calls it "the instruction manual you're born with." Before designing her new brand, I had the pleasure of working with her 1:1, both for my own education and to help inform our branding decisions. I had so many lightbulb moments throughout our time together!

Come peek behind the scenes at this newest brand reveal!

1 | Brand Strategy

When many people think of numerology, they conjure up ideas of something witchy and voodoo, probably in dark purple and black. 🔮 This is exactly the vibe Ginger did NOT want to give off. In fact, her biggest challenge was communicating clearly what she does and how she does it, so that she can connect with more of her ideal clients.

As always, it was really important to start with her Brand Strategy. Ginger pairs her knowledge as an herbalist with numerology in a way no one else does. Working with Ginger is such a positive, uplifting, enlightening process that we want that to come through her brand even before a client gets to work with her. With these things in mind, we chose the brand keywords vibrant, alert, and clarity.

Primarily because of the botanical component, we knew her main colors would be shades of green. Anything else just felt unnatural. The key was finding the right shades, and incorporating supporting colors to keep the vibrancy. Green, of course, is all about health, growth, and restoration. Sunny yellow is cheerful, creative, and self-confident; and melon is lighthearted, affirming, and playful. And we added little hits of cherry pink just to keep it energetic and fun.

2 | Logo Design

We carried this energy and vibrancy into her logo design by using a lower-case, quirky font and an icon that works with or without the typeset logo. Using the number sign as the leaf veins makes the shapes interesting and unique.

3 | Brand Board

To provide a full suite of tools for Ginger, I created her logo in multiple formats and colors, including a simplified button that works great on social templates or in small spaces. The hand-drawn tree illustrations are her own artwork from her upcoming book release. Incorporating her own drawings was a simple way to make her brand really stand out.

4 | COLLATERAL & SOCIAL MEDIA

While working with clients, Ginger provides loads of detailed handouts which I found hugely helpful for understanding my own numbers and corresponding plants. We created a template to use as she slowly updates these handouts for new clients. She's also working on a new podcast so I designed the cover and episode artwork for her to "plug and play" when she's ready to launch. As always, everything is set up and organized in Canva for easy use.

5 | WEBSITE

Her detailed Brand Style Guide allowed Ginger to quickly update her existing website with new banners. We even pulled her tree illustrations into different colored panels for consistency and fun.

As a long-time member of my Marketing Mastermind, Ginger also has the accountability and group support to continue incorporating her brand into all aspects of her business. It makes me so happy to see clients do this with such confidence!

Ginger's rebrand is a beautiful example of my Signature Brand Package which has allowed her to look like the expert she is. If you're curious about knowing your numbers, either for yourself or your family, you can learn more on her website, or follow her on Clubhouse (@gingerjoylily) and Instagram. Watch for her new illustrated book and podcast coming in 2022!

“From the moment Michelle first presented my brand strategy, I was absolutely amazed at how well she understood the core of my brand, and I knew she was 100% the right choice as my designer.

Her process is the perfect blend of analysis and creativity, always focused on conveying the right message. Now my brand looks the way it has always felt for me—bright, cheery, and approachable. I feel massive relief updating my website or creating new client documents and love how everything conveys the right energy.

Michelle is the least pushy business person I know and will never pressure you to rebrand prematurely or if it's a wrong fit. I can easily recommend her to anyone and never feel like I'm just adding them to yet another sales funnel.

I love how easy and painless this whole process was and how she brought my brand to life!”
